Using Unlistr on Gmail's Inbox Tabs

Confused about how Unlistr works with Gmail's category tabs? Here's a quick overview about Gmail's category labels and what they mean when Unlistr runs on your mailbox.

How Gmail Category Labels Work

According to Gmail:

Your Gmail messages can be automatically classified into categories such as Promotions, Social and Updates. You can choose to use categories as inbox tabs, and as labels. These categories make it easy to focus on messages that are important to you and read messages of the same type all at once.Google Help

In other words, Gmail created some basic filters to help you sort your inbox. The key fact to note is that the filtering occurs at the inbox level. So, when you run Unlistr on your inbox, Unlistr scans emails in Gmail's category tabs because the emails are still, although sorted, in your inbox at Gmail's servers.

Run Unlistr on Gmail Category Tabs

Here's the neat part. By default, you can isolate Unlistr (iOS and Google Play) to unsubscribe emails in any given category tab by simply selecting the label/folder under "Select Folders to Scan" in Unlistr for mobile. For example, you can have Unlistr automatically unsubscribe emails entering your Promotions label in bulk by selecting only the Promotions label in Unlistr's settings.
